Which kind of caravan antenna should I use on my travels? Oh, Boy! That would have to be the 64million-dollar question. Everyone has an opinion on which is the best.

Do I need an amplifier? Most of the time when travelling, you will need to add an amplifier or use the one enclosed in your aerial.

What are the technical specifications of the Saturn Omni 3000? The Saturn Omni 3000 TV antenna has a plastic, UV-protected shell covering 2 aerials – one VHF, one UHF. Also, inside the shell is a digital amplifier that boosts the signal by 34dB on the UHF and 28dB on the VHF. The 2 aerials are dipoles (in a circular pattern). The frequency range for the Saturn TV antenna is from 48MHz – 840MHz.

Is the Saturn TV antenna a DIGITAL antenna?
The Saturn TV antennas have been ready for the digital reception since 2001. The amplifier inside the shell has been manufactured for the digital reception by GME Kingray in Sydney. 

Why do I not receive good TV reception at Peterborough, SA?  (In replying to this particular email question, this reply could also be the response to thousands of other places in Australia where the government website says the reception is “variable”).

I have done some checking of the TV reception at Peterborough. I use the government website www.digitalready.gov.au which I find invaluable. At Peterborough, they say that the reception is “variable”. That means that houses there will experience “variable” reception – some houses will get good reception while other houses may receive only a few. What hope does the traveller have, then, with an antenna that is lower than the house antennas and with an antenna that is a compromise for that particular transmitter. In that situation, there are a heap of things that can change the quality of the reception – position in the park, antenna, cables, plugs and sockets, AND the TV itself.
